Material Grade: IC I , IC II, IC III, IC IV, IC V

Hot Strip, Section & Skin Pass Mill Ni-Cr-Mo Indefinite Chilled Rolls (IC Series)

Engineered for a balance of wear resistance and thermal stress relief. The IC series incorporates a controlled distribution of fine graphite flakes within the alloyed matrix, which helps to mitigate thermal fatigue and enhances bite performance in intermediate and finishing stands.

Key Mill Applications (Recommended Stands)

Small Section & Narrow Strip Mills

Recommended Grades : IC I, IC II, IC III

For these mills, we provide a tiered solution. While IC I-II offers effective bite friction and cost-efficiency, the IC III centrifugal composite rolls are specifically recommended for higher-load stands to help reduce roll change frequency and maintain pass profile stability.

Continuous Bar & High-Speed Wire Rod

Recommended Grades : IC III, IC IV

Engineered for intermediate and pre-finishing stands. The centrifugal cast structure provides the necessary core toughness and shell wear resistance to withstand the high rolling speeds and thermal cycling typical of modern wire rod lines.

Hot Strip & Medium Plate Mills

Recommended Grades : IC IV, IC V

These highly alloyed centrifugal grades are developed for finishing stands. They offer substantial resistance to thermal cracking and spalling, supporting the consistent surface finish required for strip and plate production.

Chemical Composition & Physical Properties

We carefully balance carbide-forming elements (Chromium, Molybdenum) with graphitizing dynamics to control the chill depth and graphite morphology. The specific metallurgical parameters are detailed below:

Code (代码) C Si Mn P S Cr Ni Mo Hardness (HSD) Tensile (N/mm²)
IC I 2.90-3.60 0.60-1.20 0.40-1.20 ≤ 0.25 ≤ 0.08 0.70-1.20 0.05-1.00 0.20-0.60 55-72 ≥ 160
IC II 2.90-3.60 0.60-1.20 0.40-1.20 ≤ 0.25 ≤ 0.08 0.70-1.20 1.01-2.00 0.20-0.60 55-72
IC III 2.90-3.60 0.60-1.20 0.40-1.20 ≤ 0.25 ≤ 0.05 0.70-1.20 2.01-3.00 0.20-1.00 65-78 ≥ 350
IC IV 2.90-3.60 0.60-1.50 0.40-1.20 ≤ 0.10 ≤ 0.05 1.00-2.00 3.01-4.80 0.20-1.00 70-83
IC V 2.90-3.60 0.60-1.50 0.40-1.20 ≤ 0.10 ≤ 0.05 1.00-2.00 3.01-4.80 0.20-2.00 77-85

* Premium Grade Note: The IC V grade is further fortified with advanced micro-alloying elements specifically for demanding hot strip mill applications: Vanadium (V) 0.20~2.00%, Tungsten (W) 0.00~2.00%, and Niobium (Nb) 0.00~2.00%.

Metallurgical Excellence

Why do DURON IC Series rolls support high-stability hot rolling?

  • Graphite Lubrication & Stress Relief : The fine graphite flakes within the matrix act as a solid lubricant and thermal shock absorber. This microstructure significantly reduces the risk of deep fire crazing and surface deterioration during high-temperature rolling cycles.

  • Optimized Hardness Gradient : The indefinite chill process results in a very gradual hardness transition from the shell to the core. This characteristic supports a deeper usable working layer, helping to extend the roll’s overall campaign life and reduce dressing loss.

  • Advanced Micro-Alloying for IC V : For severe finishing applications, our IC V grade incorporates strategic additions of Vanadium, Tungsten, and Niobium. These elements form secondary hard carbides that maintain structural integrity and wear resistance even under intense thermal loads.

Manufacturing Control & Inspection

100% Non-Destructive Testing

Every roll undergoes rigorous Ultrasonic Testing (UT) at the working layer and bonding zone to eliminate internal voids and ensure structural integrity under heavy loads.

Precision CNC Machining

Roll necks and barrel profiles are machined using heavy-duty CNC equipment, strictly adhering to your drawing's dimensional and runout tolerances for perfect bearing fitment.

Metallurgical Verification

Chemical compositions are analyzed via spectrometer pre-pouring, and multi-point hardness mapping is conducted post-heat treatment to guarantee the specified hardness gradient.

Quality Traceability

All dispatched rolls are accompanied by a comprehensive inspection certificate, documenting chemical composition, hardness distribution, and UT reports.
